President’s Visit to Atuabo Gas Processing Plant

His excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo has emphasizes that the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant is a critical national asset and deserves proper maintenance. President Akuffo-Addo called on the management of the processing plant to put in place proper maintenance plans to sustain and boost the plant’s performance, in order to serve its purpose for the benefit of the present and future generation. 

The president made these statements during a familiarization tour of the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant as part of his visit to the Western Region. He was amazed by the fact that Ghanaian engineers have taken over the management and operations of the plant, encouraging the exuberant engineers to demonstrate to the world that Ghanaians are much capable to serve if given the opportunity. 

The president reiterated that the Atuabo Plant is critical such that its role in moving the country from agro-economy to value added technologically advanced country cannot be overlooked. He stressed that the plant will play a major role in the government’s one district, one factory by supplying power to industries, subsequently enhancing industrialization and creating jobs for the people. 

The president said a fertilizer plant will be sited in Western region and Ghana Gas will play a major role in the establishment and processing of the fertilizer. Dr. Ben K.D Asante, Chief Executive Officer of Ghana National Gas Company(GNGC), thanked the president for his visit and assured him that the management and staff of GNGC will do their very best to make the plant a key asset for the development of our country. 

Also present at the ceremony were Awulae Kpanyili III, Paramount Chief of Eastern Nzema Traditional Area, Hon. Osafo Marfo, Senior Minister of State, Ernest Owusu-Bempah, Head of Communications, Ghana National Gas Company among others.
